Not sure if your fence needs repair or full replacement? Here are five signs it's time to call a fence contractor.
1. Leaning or Sagging Posts
If your fence posts are leaning, the concrete footings have likely failed or the posts have rotted below ground. When multiple posts are leaning, replacement is usually more cost-effective than repair.
2. Widespread Rot or Decay
A few rotting boards can be replaced individually. But if rot is widespread — especially at the base of boards and posts — the entire fence has reached end of life.
3. Storm Damage
North Texas storms can flatten sections of fence. If more than 30% of the fence is damaged, full replacement is usually cheaper and gives you a uniform, new fence.
4. Boards Are Warped or Splitting
Warped and split boards not only look bad, they compromise the structural integrity and privacy of your fence. When most boards are affected, it's time for new.
5. It's Over 15 Years Old
Most wood fences in Texas last 15-20 years with maintenance. If your fence is approaching that age and showing multiple issues, replacement gives you better value than ongoing repairs.
